EAST STROUDSBURG - Kelsey Stoka's goal with 13:57 remaining was the difference as No. 18 Bloomsburg knocked off No. 25 East Stroudsburg University 2-1 in a PSAC East women's soccer match-up between two schools ranked in this week's NSCAA/adidas coaches poll.
The Huskies struck first on an unassisted goal by Lauren Hess in the 21st minute, but the Warriors leveled the score four minutes later when senior forward Lynda Hicks found the net on an assist from senior midfielder Jennifer Buckley.
The goal was the 12th of the season and the 32nd career goal for Hicks, a graduate student in Management and Leadership who is finishing her career in a Warriors' uniform which began in 2003.
Both teams had 11 shots in the second half, but Stoka's was the only one that hit the back of the net. Jourdan Fedusenko had the assist to help the Huskies improve to 12-3 (7-2 PSAC East).
Frances Nicoletti made 13 saves for Bloomsburg, while her counterpart Janine Turcio was credited with five saves for the Warriors.
ESU (8-5-2, 4-4-1) remains in fourth place in the PSAC East standings and will play at West Chester, Millersville and Mansfield to close the regular season. The top four schools in both the east and west divisions will play in the PSAC quarterfinals on Thursday, November 4.
