EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore back Kayla Cilenti scored the first four goals of her career to give East Stroudsburg University a 5-3 win over C.W. Post in PSAC East field hockey on Senior Day at Whitenight Field.
All four of Cilenti's goals came off penalty corners, as ESU (12-7, 4-3) outshot the Pioneers (9-7, 2-5) 19-9 and held a 13-5 advantage in corners. Her first goal, 8:33 into the game, was assisted by juniors Kahla Doran and Kierstyn DeNardo, and Doran also assisted on her second goal with 12:15 left until halftime.
Sophomore forward Monica Gombita gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead on an assist from sophomore Caitlin Brownley before Krytal Napolitano put C.W. Post on the board midway through the first period. ESU led 3-1 at intermission.
Amanda Nann pulled the Pioneers within 3-2 six minutes into the second half, but Cilenti converted on a pair of corners a minute apart for her third and fourth goals of the game to give the Warriors a 5-2 advantage. The first goal was unassisted at the 44:53 mark, and DeNardo had the assist on the second score at 45:57.
Napolitano her second goal of the game for C.W. Post with 15 minutes left, but the Pioneers wouldn't get any closer.
Forward April Sutton, midfielder Nikki Trunzo and goalkeeper Carolyn Kisling were all honored before the game on Senior Day. Kisling has been the Warriors' starting goalkeeper the last two seasons after transferring from C.W. Post, and Trunzo was an All-American last season.
ESU finishes the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Millersville for a 1 p.m. start.
