MILLERSVILLE - Emily Woodland scored the game's only goal 2:43 into the second half and Millersville held on for a 1-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in the Warriors' final field hockey game of the 2008 season on Saturday at Biemsderfer Stadium.
Sara Dickinson made eight saves to post the shutout for the Marauders (7-11, 1-7), while senior Carolyn Kisling had two saves in the last game of her two-year career at ESU. Seniors April Sutton and Nikki Trunzo, both four-year letterwinners, also played their final games in a Warriors uniform.
ESU held a 16-5 advantage in shots and huge 15-3 margin in penalty corners, including four in the closing minute of the contest, but was unable to produce the tying goal.
The Warriors wrap up the year with a 12-8 record and 4-4 mark in the newly-created PSAC East. Sophomores Caitlin Brownley and Monica Gombita tied for the team lead with eight goals and ESU will return the scorers of 47 of its 50 goals next season.
