Hicks Delivers as ESU and West Chester Tie, 1-1

WEST CHESTER - Lynda Hicks scored the 13th goal of her final season at East Stroudsburg University as the Warriors earned a 1-1 tie at PSAC East-leading West Chester on Saturday afternoon.

ESU (8-5-3, 4-4-2) picks up a crucial point as it look to secure its second straight trip to the PSAC women's soccer playoffs. The tie gives the Warriors 14 points, one ahead of Shippensburg, which plays its final PSAC East game at West Chester next Saturday. ESU has two conference games remaining, next Wednesday at Millersville and Saturday at Mansfield.

Hicks' goal in the 32nd minute held up until West Chester sophomore Sarah Oswald scored with 16 minutes remaining. ESU suffered three losses to the Golden Rams last season and fell 2-0 earlier this year before earning a tie against the No. 9-ranked team in Division II.

Hicks, a graduate student from Saylorsburg (Pleasant Valley) has 33 career goals, two away from tying for fourth in school history.

ESU will clinch a spot in the PSAC postseason with a win in either of its final two games, beginning on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Millersville. The Warriors made their first appearance in the PSAC semifinals since 1998 last season.
