Hicks nearly put ESU ahead 2-0 off a corner kick in the second half when she drilled a ball past Slippery Rock goalkeeper Sarah Lacy, but a Rock defender was standing on the goal line to clear the ball away.
Shelby Layman tied the game at 1-all in the 77th minute on an assist from Shelly Regner, and Slippery Rock had the momentum going into overtime before Hicks ended the game 2:36 into the extra session.
