Yandrisevits, Grimes Lead Warriors in 72-57 Win vs. Post

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits had 24 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore forward Rachel Grimes posted career-highs with 14 points and nine boards as East Stroudsburg University downed Post University 72-57 on the first night of the 44th Annual ESU Basketball Tournament presented by the Lehigh Valley International Airport and North Pole Express on Friday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Yandrisevits had the fifth 20-point, 10-rebound game and seventh double-double of her career, while Grimes was one board away from her first career double-double. Sophomore guard Kristen Murray was also in double figures with 10 points.

ESU led from the opening tip and started to pull away with a 5-0 spurt in the first minute of the second half as Yandrisevits had a three-point play and notched one of her four assists on a layup by junior forward DeAnna Rayam.

Grimes scored eight first-half points and reached double figures with a jumper with 16 minutes left, again on an assist from Yandrisevits. The Warriors led 44-33 at that point and by at least eight points the rest of the way.

Senior guard Keri Cahill had eight points, four rebounds and four assists, junior guard Mel Villano had six points and four assists and ESU assisted on 21 of its 27 baskets.

Taylor Doyle led Post with 13 points and Stephanie Goss had 11 points and nine boards.

Queens (N.Y.) beat Georgian Court 59-42 in the first game of the day behind 16 points and 10 rebounds from Jennifer DiChiara. ESU faces Georgian Court on Saturday at 6 p.m.
