Kristen Murray scored 17 points and junior guard
Jackie Yandrisevits had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 67-59 win over Kutztown in PSAC East women's basketball at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Murray also had a career-high nine rebounds and senior forward Monika Fogelsanger had 11 points and eight boards to contribute to a balanced ESU attack. The Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 3-3 in the PSAC East, while Kutztown falls to 2-4.
Melissa McQuade scored 20 points, 15 in the first half, and pulled down 11 rebounds to pace the Golden Bears.
The lead changed hands five times in an evenly played first half that ended with ESU holding a 32-30 lead on a jumper by junior guard Keri Cahill 11 seconds before the break.
ESU led by as many as five points in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but Kutztown held a 56-55 advantage after a three-point play by Mercedes Van Wagner with 4:30 left in the game.
Fogelsanger gave the Warriors the lead for good with a jumper on the next possession to start a 12-3 run to finish the game. Murray scored five points during the spurt, including a coast-to-coast layup with 2:30 left, and ESU was 7-of-8 at the line to close out the contest.
The Warriors have the weekend off and will start the second half of conference play on Wednesday at Cheyney. ESU beat the Wolves 74-66 on Jan. 16 at Koehler Fieldhouse.
