KUTZTOWN - Junior guard
Jackie Yandrisevits scored seven of her 25 points in a 10-2 run to close the first half as East Stroudsburg University finished the regular season with an 83-72 win at Kutztown on Saturday afternoon.
The scoring output is the second-highest in regulation for the Warriors (12-14, 6-6) this season, and Yandrisevits had her fourth 25-point game of the year. She moved past 1,200 points for her career with 1,223 and within one point of Gaye Chapman '95, a 2007 inductee into the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame, for sixth in school history.
Yandrisevits added nine rebounds for the Warriors and senior forward Monika Fogelsanger had six boards, giving her 556 for her career and one shy of Chapman for 10th all-time at ESU.
Fogelsanger scored 12 points and sophomore guard Mel Villano had 10 to give ESU three players in double figures, and eight of the nine Warriors who played scored at least six points.
Lara Dellegrotti scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures, and Mercedes Van Wagner had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Kutztown (11-16, 4-8).
Kutztown held its final lead of the game, 25-24, with 6:01 left in the first half before Villano hit a three to put the Warriors ahead for good. ESU led 31-28 with 2:30 left before going on its 10-2 run to finish the half, which featured three-pointers from sophomore guard DeAnna Rayam and Yandrisevits in the final minute of play.
ESU built its lead to 20 points midway through the second half and shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from the field and 57 percent (4-of-7) from the three-point line to maintain its 11-point halftime lead.
The Warriors will travel to No. 1 seed Millersville for the quarterfinals of the PSAC tournament on Tuesday. The Marauders wrapped up a perfect PSAC East season with a 69-49 win over West Chester on Saturday and are 25-4 this season.
ESU will be making its third straight appearance in the PSAC postseason following back-to-back regular season championships the last two seasons.
