OSCEOLA, Fla. - Sophomore Kara Darcey hit a three-run home run and freshman Brittany Racek also drove in three runs to lead East Stroudsburg University to an 8-4 win over St. Xavier (Ill.) on Thursday at the Rebel Spring Games.

Minnesota-Duluth beat the Warriors 3-1 in their second game Thursday night. ESU will finish its spring break trip on Friday with games against Ashland (Ohio) and Caldwell (N.J.).

Darcey gave ESU a three-run lead with her homer in the second inning. Junior Eliza Morosco singled, senior Missy McAloon reached on a fielders choice, freshman Jamie Mingis followed with another single and Racek drove in the fourth run of the inning with a base hit.

Racek capped a four-run third inning with a two-run single, and Morosco also picked up two RBI with a single that scored Darcey and starting pitcher Sam Bastian, who reached on one of two St. Xavier's errors in the frame.

Bastian threw the first 2.2 innings, freshman Becky Benner tossed the next 1.1 innings in relief, and sophomore Jackie Battaglino earned the win with three scoreless innings to give ESU its first victory of the trip.

In the second game, senior Kristen Halvorsen threw a complete and allowed only two earned runs, but the Warriors only managed one run in the 3-1 setback. Racek had an RBI double for the lone run in the third inning, but UMD scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to earn the win.
