ESU Lacrosse Improves to 4-0 After 18-6 Win at Kutztown

KUTZTOWN - Seniors Renee Maniscalco and Katie Fretz scored four goals each to help East Stroudsburg University improve to 4-0 on the season with an 18-6 win over Kutztown in PSAC women's lacrosse on Monday.

Maniscalco added three assists, Fretz had two assists and freshman Michelle Mangiaruga also had a hat trick with three goals for the Warriors, who won their first two PSAC games 17-1 and 20-1 against Slippery Rock last week in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Mangiaruga leads ESU with 13 goals this season and has a hat trick in each of her first four collegiate games. She is one of 12 players that have already netted at least three goals this year.

ESU jumped out to leads of 5-0 and 10-1 against Kutztown and led 15-4 at halftime. Fretez, Maniscalco and Mangiaruga did all of their scoring in the first half and senior Eileen Sanderson scored her first goal of the season to open the second half.

Junior goalkeeper Kirstin Mayberry made six saves for her fourth win of the season. Senior Janelle Cronmiller had seven of the Warriors' 32 caused turnovers and also picked up six ground balls.

ESU will host Bloomsburg at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in its first home contest of the season.
