BLOOMSBURG - Senior Katie Fretz scored four goals to become the 11th 100-goal scorer in East Stroudsburg University lacrosse history, but the Warriors fell 15-10 at Bloomsburg in PSAC action on Thursday.
Fretz hit the century mark with her first goal of the game, on an assist from freshman Christine Bradley, to tie the score at 2-2 less than four minutes in.
Freshman Molly O'Hara also had a hat trick for the Warriors, scoring all three of her goals in the first half, including two in the final two minutes that pulled ESU within 9-5 following a 6-0 Bloomsburg run.
Senior Renee Maniscalco scored her only goal of the game, and the 93rd of her career, to keep the Warriors within striking distance at 10-6 early in the second half, but the Huskies netted the next three goals to pull away.
Kylie Matthews and Cali Toms scored four goals each for Bloomsburg (6-5, 6-3).
Fretz scored 15 goals as a freshman, 29 as a sophomore when she was second team All-PSAC, and 37 last year. She has a team-high 22 goals this season and 103 in her career at ESU, passing Kim Niles (1999-2002) for 10th in school history. Thursday's performance was also her 19th career game with at least three goals.
The Warriors (7-4, 5-4) take on Lock Haven in conference play on Saturday as they look to lock down one of the four postseason berths. ESU won five games total over the previous two years before posting seven wins to date this season.
