Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Katie Fretz scored five goals, including two of the Warriors' three goals in a 23-second span early in the second half, but No. 5 Lock Haven was too much for East Stroudsburg University in a 15-9 setback in PSAC women's lacrosse on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Bald Eagles (10-2, 8-1) won the first meeting this season 23-6 and led 8-2 at halftime on Saturday before the Warriors (7-5, 5-5) rallied with a quick flurry to pull within 8-5.

Fretz scored an unassisted goal 4:37 into the second half, found the net on a pass from freshman Molly O'Hara 12 seconds later, and freshman Christine Bradley won the draw control and scored exactly 5:00 into the half to cut ESU's deficit to three.

Amber Hoch (3 goals, 3 assists) scored on an assist from Jessica Blickenstaff (5 goals, 2 assists) to stop the ESU run with just under 20 minutes remaining.

Fretz and O'Hara hooked up for another goal to make the score 9-6 with 19:13 left, but Blickenstaff scored on a free position shot four minutes later.

Senior Renee Maniscalco netted an unassisted goal with 11:30 remaining to again bring ESU within three goals (10-7) before Lock Haven scored five of the final seven goals to pull away.

Bradley scored two goals for the Warriors and O'Hara handed out three assists, all to Fretz. Junior goalkeeper Kirstin Mayberry made 10 saves for ESU.

ESU continues its five-game homestand on Monday with a non-conference meeting against Kutztown, which is in its first season as a program and will join the PSAC in 2009.
