BLOOMSBURG - Freshmen Katie D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno led the way as the East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team improved to 3-2 in the PSAC East with a 5-4 win over Millersville on Saturday at Bloomsburg University.
Millersville downed the Warriors 7-2 in the men's match-up, with juniors Julian Taibi (No. 5, 6-0, 6-4) and Rob Mikolon (No. 6, 6-1, 6-1) winning their singles matches for ESU.
D'Ambrosia and Ferrigno won 8-0 at second doubles and both earned victories in singles. D'Ambrosia beat Jackie Jeffe 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and Ferrigno came from one set down to defeat Jenny Habecker 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4.
Senior Shana Morris won the first singles match 6-0, 6-3, and junior Sarah Deisher and sophomore Marissa Tanner won 8-4 at third doubles.
On the men's side, Millersville won the second and third doubles matches 9-7 and had straight set victories at first through fourth singles.
ESU hosts Chestnut Hill in non-conference action on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Stroudsburg High School.
