EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior catcher Amanda Feist belted two home runs in the doubleheader and freshman LF Jamie Mingis was 3-for-4 with four RBI in the second game as East Stroudsburg University and Millersville split a pair of PSAC East games on Tuesday afternoon.
Janelle Mrakovich threw a complete game and drove in all three of Millersville's (18-25, 6-16) runs in a 3-1 win in the first game, with Feist providing the Warriors' offense with a solo home run in the third inning.
Feist hit a two-run homer, her fifth of the year, in the first inning of the second game and the Warriors (15-28, 9-13) scored four runs in the fifth inning to end the game with a 9-1 victory. Feist is one of six ESU players to hit at least five home runs in a season in school history.
Mingis had an RBI single to score senior CF Missy McAloon in the third inning and came home on a base hit by senior 3B Candice Pastor to put ESU ahead 4-0.
The Warriors extended the lead to 5-0 in the fourth with back-to-back doubles by Mingis and freshman 2B Brittany Racek. Millersville got one run back in the top of the fifth before ESU put together two walks and four doubles to end the game in the bottom of the inning.
Senior 1B Ali Hale (3-for-3) and Pastor both doubled to start the inning, and pinch runners Briana Malachowski and Alicea Ashe scored on a double by senior DH Eliza Morosco to make the score 7-1. Senior SS Laura Snyder and Racek both walked, and Mingis followed with a double to left that pushed the final two runs across.
Senior Kristen Halvorsen threw four scoreless innings to move into sole possession of second place on ESU's career wins list with her 39th victory as a Warrior. She tossed a complete game and gave up two earned runs but took the loss in game one.
The Warriors complete their conference schedule with their final home doubleheader of the season on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Mansfield.
