PHILADELPHIA - The men's 4x200 relay team of sophomores Ed Kiser, Chris Reddick and Andrew McCloskey and freshman Greg Pammer ran the second-fastest time in East Stroudsburg University history (1:27.93) on Friday at Franklin Field in the 114th Penn Relays.

The quartet was .19 seconds off the school record of 1:27.74 which was set in 1976. Kiser led off with a 22.5 split, Reddick scorched the track with a time of 21.3 seconds, Pammer also ran 22.5 and McCloskey brought the Warriors home in 21.7 seconds.

ESU finished sixth in its heat, which was won by Mississippi State, followed by Virginia Commonwealth and Lincoln (Mo.).

The men's 4x400 relay was fifth out of 11 squads in the Wetzler/Pennsylvania challenge. Kiser, Tony Prudente and Pammer ran the first three legs and Reddick once again clocked the Warriors' fastest time with a 48.5 second split on the anchor lap.

ESU's time of 3:18.65 was better than five Division I schools in the event. Bucknell and Cheyney finished first and second.

ESU alumni Barry Krammes and Dan Gale also competed in the Olympic Development men's javelin on Friday. Krammes was third with a throw of 229-10 and Gale placed seventh at 210-0.

Krammes set the Eiler-Martin Stadium record last week at the All-American Meet and is the defending champion at the Oregon Twilight Meet, which will be held in Eugene, Oregon in two weeks.

In other action, the women's 4x200 relay team failed to finish due to a dropped handoff on the final exchange, and sophomore Matt Gallup no-heighted in his attempts in the pole vault. Gallup broke ESU's school record at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell two weeks ago.

Three sophomores, Kenny Cardullo (javelin), Drew Miller (triple jump) and Paul Wagner (hammer throw) will compete for ESU at the Penn Relays on Saturday. The rest of the team will be in action in Bethlehem at the Lehigh Games.
