Warriors Knock Off Millersville 5-3 in PSAC Men's Tennis Consolation Match

BLOOMSBURG - East Stroudsburg University finished third in the PSAC men's tennis championship with a 5-3 win over Millersville on Saturday at Bloomsburg University.

The Warriors won at second and third doubles and swept the final three singles matches to earn the victory over the Marauders in the consolation match, one week after falling 7-2 to Millersville in their dual match at Bloomsburg.

Juniors Julian Taibi and Rob Mikolon won 9-7 at No. 2 doubles and also picked up singles victories for ESU. Taibi came back from one set down to defeat Dustin Speicher 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at fifth singles and Mikolon won 6-3, 6-0 against Corbin Holland at sixth singles.

Freshman Will Norris earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at fourth singles, and Norris and freshman Ryan Baxter improved to 13-3 at third doubles this spring with an 8-3 victory

Senior Jeff Kurz played No. 2 singles and teamed up with freshman Jared Howat at No. 1 doubles in the final action of his career at ESU.

Bloomsburg won the PSAC championship with a 5-1 win over Kutztown in the afternoon.
