BETHLEHEM - Sophomore Matt Gallup won the men's pole vault, freshman Lynn Mayer won the women's high jump and freshman Steph Weber tied the school record in the women's pole vault to lead East Stroudsburg University on Saturday at the Lehigh Games.
Gallup cleared 14-9 to win the men's event and Weber matched teammate Kristen Morby's record with a height of 10-6 for the women.
Mayer, coming off a victory in the women's eastern college high jump at the Penn Relays, won with a height of 5-5 at Lehigh. Sophomore Janelle Smith also went over at 5-5, with Mayer winning on total jumps.
The men's 4x400 relay team of John Wekselman, Jim Norley, Ryan Doyle and Jeremy Buttersworth turned in the top time in 3:31.50, and the Warriors men placed high in all three of the sprint events.
Freshman Mickey Liszewski was second in the 200m (23.30), senior Mike Gowen was fourth (23.60) and freshman Asher Ashfield placed sixth (23.73). Ashfield also tied for fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.27 seconds, and Gowen was 10th.
Wekselman was fourth at 400m (51.51) and Liszewski finished sixth (52.49). Senior Travis Pregnar was the Warriors' top finisher in the 800m. Doyle finished sixth in the 1500m run in 4:03.86, and freshman Matt Cook was fifth in the 5000m.
Sophomore Paul Wagner was eighth in the discus with a throw of 150-11 after traveling from Philadelphia, where he nearly set the school record in the hammer throw earlier in the day.
Freshman Bill Buis finished second in the javelin with a mark of 181-0 and junior Ryan Kramer was third in the high jump at 6-2 1/4. Senior Anthony Scannella was fourth in the long jump and freshman Tom Sutor came in 10th in the hammer.
Nashanti Iglesias was second in the women's triple jump at 35-6 1/2 and also finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 28.00 seconds to lead a strong showing by the Warriors freshmen on the track.
Kathleen Lavelle was fifth for the Warriors in the 400m in 61.87 seconds, and Brittiny Mackey was fifth in the 100m hurdles in 16.24 seconds. Emily Hollick placed fourth in the 400m hurdles (68.00), followed by Jamie Zavardino in sixth (69.71).
Senior Amber Horn led the ESU contingent in the 5000m run as she placed second in 18:54.88. Senior Amanda Bradbury and freshmen Amy Moratz and Leanne Pelak finished sixth through eighth.
Sophomore Niki Pasquarella placed 10th in the 1500m and senior Sam LaPergola and freshman Kristine Goemaat were both in the top 20 in the 800m. Sophomore Rachel Ostroski and Goemaat finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the steeplechase.
Freshman Allison Cardullo threw 112-8 in the javelin to take fourth and sophomore Kahla Doran was fifth. Sophomore Emily Carothers was in the top 10 in the shot put and the discus, freshman Danielle Laws was sixth in the discus and freshman Jackie Berthelsen was eight in the shot put.
