DeNardo Scores Twice, Warriors Field Hockey Downs Stonehill 2-1 (2OT)

EASTON, Mass. - Junior midfielder Kierstyn DeNardo scored both goals, including the game-winner seven minutes into the second overtime period, as East Stroudsburg University knocked off Stonehill 2-1 in non-conference field hockey on Saturday afternoon.

DeNardo, a second team All-PSAC East player a year ago, put the Warriors on the board off a penalty corner two minutes before halftime, with the assists coming from sophomores Brittany Kocis and Kira Edelman.

The Skyhawks tied the score on a goal by Laura Nimon 12 minutes into the second half, and the game went into overtime tied at 1-1.

Stonehill had the only shot in the first overtime period, while ESU got off two shots in the second OT and DeNardo knocked in the game-winner on an assist from sophomore Caitlin Brownley at the 92:23 mark of the contest.

Senior Carolyn Kisling made two saves for ESU, while her counterpart Courtney Osier was credited with four saves as the Warriors held a 12-4 advantage in shots and an 8-0 edge in penalty corners.

ESU improves to 2-0 following a season-opening 4-1 win over Philadelphia University and will play Merrimack on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
