ESU Field Hockey Blanks Merrimack 7-0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Seven different players found the back of the cage and Kierstyn DeNardo, April Sutton and Molly McNeil both had a goal and an assist as East Stroudsburg University improved to 3-0 with a 7-0 shutout at Merrimack in non-conference field hockey on Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors scored twice before halftime, on a goal by Sutton with the assist from Kahla Doran at 13:15 and an unassisted goal by DeNardo with nine minutes left until the break.

DeNardo assisted on a score by Caitlin Brownley for the first of ESU's five second-half goals, all coming in a span of 20 minutes.

Sutton had the helper when Brittany Kocis found the cage just under 12 minutes into the second stanza, and Joanna Reckley, McNeil and Katie Anderson also scored for the Warriors.

Carolyn Kisling played the first 49 minutes in goal and made four saves, and Megan Cappuccino (16 minutes, four saves) and Maureen Ordnung also combined on the shutout.

ESU will take its 3-0 record into Wednesday's PSAC East opener at 7 p.m. at Kutztown.
