Bachman, Kuhn Lead Warriors Past Millersville in Five Sets

EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore outside hitter Brianne Bachman had a career-high 15 kills, including four in the fifth set, as East Stroudsburg University earned a its first PSAC East victory with a 3-2 win over Millersville on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Bachman had kills on three of the Warriors' final four points in the deciding game. ESU earned a sideout to go ahead 10-9 and won the next four points on the serve of senior libero Kim Dormer to take a commanding 14-9 advantage. Senior Linsey Sewalk had a kill on the final point to give ESU a 15-10 win.

Senior middle blocker Caitlin Kuhn, the PSAC East Player of the Week, had eight kills and hit .467 and also added to her school-record total with five blocks.

ESU won the first set 25-23 but dropped the next two to fall behind 2-1. The Warriors led throughout the fourth set and won 25-21 to force the final game.

Dormer had a season-high 25 digs and was one of four players with double-figure digs for the Warriors, along with senior setter Amilee Schillinger (38 assists, 14 digs), Bachman (12 digs) and sophomore outside hitter Emily Detter (seven kills, 10 digs).

ESU hosts Alderson Broaddus tomorrow at noon after Millersville takes on the Battlers at 10 a.m. as part of this weekend's tri-match.
