Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to force a fifth set but fell 15-12 in the deciding game as West Chester pulled out a 3-2 victory in the PSAC East women's volleyball opener for both schools on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Golden Rams jumped out to an early lead and won the first set 25-15 but the Warriors stormed back with a 25-18 win in the second set, the first set that West Chester had dropped in five matches this season.

The two schools traded the third and fourth sets, 25-23 (WCU) and 25-22 (ESU) and were even through the first 10 points of the final set before West Chester took control, running out to a 12-8 lead. ESU responded with the next three points, but couldn't level the score before West Chester closed it out.

Sophomore outside hitter Alyson Stark led the Warriors with 13 kills and a .353 attack percentage, and sophomore outside hitter Brianne Bachman and senior middle blocker Caitlin Kuhn had nine and seven kills, respectively. Senior setter Amilee Schillinger had 36 assists on ESU's 40 kills.

Defensively, Kuhn had six blocks to move within seven blocks of the ESU career record and freshman Heather Paulus contributed five blocks. The Warriors had 14 total blocks in the match.

Senior libero Kim Dormer had 23 digs after being named to the All-Tournament team at Wilmington University last weekend.

ESU returns to the floor at Koehler Fieldhouse with a tournament this weekend, beginning with two matches on Friday at 4 p.m. against Philadelphia University and 8 p.m. against Queens (N.Y.).
