Warriors Field Hockey Shuts Out Mercyhurst 2-0

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University sophomore forward Caitlin Brownley found the back of the cage 8:14 into the second period to lead the Warriors to a 2-0 victory over Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon.

ESU (8-4) outshot the Lakers (2-7) 5-0 in the first period and also held an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners at the break but was unable to place a single shot on goal. Brownley opened the scoring for ESU with her fifth goal of the season on an assist from sophomore forward Monica Gombita early in the second half.

The Warriors added another goal four minutes later when sophomore midfielder Joanna Reckley hit a blast past the Lakers' goalkeeper 12:51 into the half. The goal was Reckley's third of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Carolyn Kisling made four saves, all in the second half, to post her second straight shutout. Jen Macri made one save while facing 10 shots for Mercyhurst.

ESU returns to PSAC East play on Thursday with a trip to Shippensburg.
