KUTZTOWN - East Stroudsburg University rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the final eight minutes of regulation, and sophomore Monica Gombita scored the game-winning goal 4:31 into the overtime period to lift the Warriors a thrilling 3-2 victory in PSAC East field hockey on Wednesday night at Kutztown.

Junior Molly McNeil scored the Warriors' first goal on a rebound opportunity with 7:49 left, and assisted on the game-tying goal by sophomore Caitlin Brownley with just 1:34 remaining in the contest.

ESU improved to 2-0 in overtime games and 4-0 on the season when Brownley crossed the ball to Gombita, who found the cage to give the Warriors the victory.

Kutztown jumped out to an early lead when Anne Waapu scored 3:55 into the game, and All-American Kelley Healey gave her team a 2-0 advantage with a goal 20 minutes into the second half, but the Warriors gathered momentum with McNeil's goal and scored three times in the final 13 minutes of action.

The Golden Bears, ranked No. 5 in the initial NFHCA coaches poll, were playing their first game of the season while the No. 9 Warriors were tested last Saturday in a 2-1, double-overtime win at No. 6 Stonehill.

Senior Carolyn Kisling made four saves on 10 Kutztown shots as ESU made the most of its eight shots to push three goals past Golden Bears goalkeeper Melissa Watson.

The Warriors will put their 4-0 record on the line against No. 4 Shippensburg on Saturday at Whitenight Field in a non-conference match-up. The PSAC has expanded to a two-division format in field hockey for the first time in 2008 with the addition of Mercyhurst as a full member and C.W. Post as an associate member for field hockey.
