EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Caitlin Kuhn set the school record for career blocks while helping East Stroudsburg University to a pair of 3-1 victories over Shepherd and St. Rose in women's volleyball on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Kuhn had seven blocks against Shepherd to break the record in the morning, then added six blocks and eight kills on 10 attacks for an .800 hitting percentage against St. Rose. The senior entered the day with 301 career blocks, one behind Lora Gibson (1990-93) for the Warriors' career record, and already holds the top two single-season marks in school history.
Sophomore outside hitter Alyson Stark led the Warriors in kills in both matches, as she has in each of the first six matches that she has played in this season. Stark pounded 17 kills vs. Shepherd, three off her career-high that she set as a freshman, and added 10 kills in the win over St. Rose.
Defensively, senior libero Kim Dormer had 40 digs on the day, and the ESU blocking effort was solid with 21 total blocks between the two matches, led by Kuhn (13) and Stark (8).
ESU improves to 6-3 on the season after wrapping up this weekend's tournament with a 3-1 record and returns to the floor on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Holy Family.
