LANCASTER - Redshirt freshman Ken Monarque had a first-period pin and redshirt senior Matt Swallow and sophomore Matthew Rizzo both posted technical falls as East Stroudsburg University knocked off Franklin & Marshall 36-6 in EIWA dual action on Friday night at the Mayser Center.
The Diplomats gave up six points with a forfeit in the 125-pound bout and Swallow (18-1) and Rizzo (16-0) earned tech falls at 133 and 141, respectively, to stake the Warriors to an 18-0 advantage.
Redshirt senior Scott Heckman followed with a 15-7 major decision at 149 pounds and Monarque pinned David Pucci in 1:47 for his first career dual victory. Redshirt freshman Thad Frick improved to 7-4 on the season with a 10-9 decision over Anthony Bongarzone at 165.
F&M picked up its only two wins of the night at 174 and 184. Justin Herbert had a 7-4 decision over redshirt sophomore Jeff Jacobs in their match-up at 174 pounds, and freshman Trevor Salvatore fell 5-1 to Matt Fullowan at 184.
ESU closed the night with a pair of victories from redshirt junior Shane Mallory and junior Chris Birchler. Mallory returned to the mat for the first time since Jan. 3 with a major decision at 197 to improve to 15-4 on the season and 10-1 in dual action, and Birchler ran his season record to 14-3 after a 10-3 decision over Nico Somers at 285.
The Warriors will travel to Annapolis, Md. to take on Navy in an EIWA match-up next Saturday.
