MANSFIELD - Senior forward
Jackie Yandrisevits had an offensive rebound and putback with five seconds left to give East Stroudsburg University a 49-47 win at Mansfield in PSAC East women's basketball on Thursday night.
The Warriors (9-9, 2-3) held the lead over the last 11 minutes of the game, but Mansfield (4-14, 0-5) overcame a six-point deficit in the final 2:30 to tie the game at 47-47 on a jumper by Mallory Moore with 30 seconds left.
ESU called timeout to set up a play for Yandrisevits, who missed the initial shot but grabbed the rebound and put it back in to put the Warriors ahead by two. Mansfield's Nicole Pender missed a jumper at the buzzer.
ESU opened the game with a 9-0 run as senior guard Keri Cahill hit a three-pointer less than two minutes in, and the lead escalated quickly from there. Yandrisevits scored six straight points to complete the quick start, then hit a jumper to give ESU an 11-5 advantage.
The Mounties scored the next nine points to go ahead 14-11, but ESU sophomore guard Kristen Murray made a three the next time down to stop the spurt.
The Warriors trailed 24-23 at halftime, but Cahill opened the second half just as she did to start the game, burying a three-pointer to give ESU the lead.
The Mounties responded with another run, this time scoring seven straight points to go ahead 31-26, before ESU limited them to two field goals over the next 14 minutes and built a 45-39 advantage, its largest of the second half.
Yandrisevits finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season, and Murray (13 points) and Cahill (10) were also in double figures.
Pender had 16 points and seven rebounds for Mansfield.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday when they host West Chester at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
