ERIE - Carrie Nolan scored 19 points and Brittany Tabron had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help Gannon improve to 10-1 on the season with an 88-56 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University on Sunday afternoon at the Hammermill Center.
Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits scored 19 points to move into fifth on ESU's career scoring list, passing Niki Cox, who scored 1,440 points from 2001-05. Yandrisevits has 1,444 career points 11 games into her senior season.
Yandrisevits also made progress on two other career lists. She was 3-for-4 from the three-point line, giving her 50 made three-pointers for her career which qualifies her for the top spot for three-point percentage at 40.7 percent (50-123). On the defensive end, Yandrisevits was credited with three steals and two blocks, moving closer to the top 10 in steals and into a tie for fourth with 69 blocked shots.
Gannon jumped out to a 14-0 lead and held a 35-10 advantage at one point in the first half to put the game away early. The Golden Knights made seven three-pointers in the first 12 minutes and 10 triples in the game, and also dominated the glass by a 42-16 margin.
Allison Rothlisberger had 11 points, Tiffany Crocker scored 10 and three other Golden Knights scored at least seven points each to lead a balanced scoring effort. Gannon shot 60 percent (30-of-50) from the field, 46 percent from long distance and made 18 of its 21 free throws while putting up the most points against an ESU team in regulation since California scored 103 during the 2003-04 season.
Junior forward DeAnna Rayam scored 10 points, including three three-pointers, to join Yandrisevits in double figures. ESU (6-5) made a season-high eight three-pointers in the contest.
The Warriors return to PSAC crossover action next weekend with home games against Lock Haven on Saturday and Edinboro on Sunday.
