EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman forward
Bridget Connell headed in a cross from junior forward
Kailyn Buckley 43 seconds into the second half for her first career goal and East Stroudsburg University added two more goals later in the half for a 3-0 win over Mansfield in PSAC East women's soccer on Tuesday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors (9-4-1, 4-3-1) outshot the Mounties (3-8-1, 1-7-1) 18-3 in the first half, but Mansfield goalkeeper Alexis Wilhelm had 12 of her 20 saves in the period to keep ESU off the board.
Connell broke through with ESU's first shot early in the second half and freshman midfielder
Crystal Zerbe assisted on the Warriors' final two goals, which were scored by Buckley in the 68th minute and freshman forward
Moreen Hunsberger in the 79th minute.
Wilhelm's 20 saves are tied for the third-most in a game in Division II this season. ESU held advantages of 34-6 in shots and 10-1 in corner kicks, and sophomore goalkeeper
Melissa Myers had four saves for her second shutout of the season.
Buckley is second on the Warriors with seven goals and tied for the team lead with five assists, while Hunsberger has scored three of her four career goals in the last two games. Zerbe notched her third and fourth assists of the year.
ESU will take a four-game winning streak into Saturday's non-conference game at IUP. The Warriors have outscored their opponents 20-2 over their last four contests.
