MECHANICSBURG - Junior Christine Swiker and sophomore Sarah Roscioli both set school records and Swiker finished fourth in the 400 IM to lead East Stroudsburg University at the PSAC Swimming Championships on Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School.
Both swimmers lowered their school-record times in the morning preliminary sessions, and Swiker bettered her time in the finals on Saturday night. ESU's 200 medley relay and 800 free relay teams both placed 10th, and the Warriors are 10th in the team standings entering the final day of competition on Sunday.
Swiker dropped more than five seconds off her previous record of 4:44.95 which she set in December at Connecticut College. She broke the mark in 4:39.74 in the prelims and then lowered the standard to 4:39.19 in the finals. Swiker took nearly two seconds off the 200 IM record on Friday and also swam on both of Saturday's relay teams.
Roscioli broke her own school record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.16, besting her previous time of 1:08.32 which she set as a freshman. Roscioli set the 50 and 200 breast records as a sophomore this season. She finished the finals in 1:08.96 and was 15th overall.
The 200 medley relay team of freshman Lindsay DuAime, junior Heather Van O'Linda, Swiker and senior Sally Kaminski had a season-best time of 1:54.61 to placed second in the consolation final and 10th overall. Swiker, Rowland, Roscioli and Kaminski formed the 800 free relay team that was 10th in 8:11.48.
The Warriors hold a 75-73.5 lead on Bloomsburg for the 10th spot in the team standings and will return to action on Sunday.
