ESU Runners Compete at New Balance Collegiate Invitational

2008-09 Season Bests

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University sent seven athletes to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational to compete against a national field on Friday night at the Armory in New York City.

Five of the seven athletes ran season-best times, led by sophomore Jasmine Johnson and senior Katherine Doyle in the women's 400m. Johnson ran a time of 59.41 seconds and Doyle finished in 59.84 seconds to break the one minute barrier for the first time this year.

Junior Emily Hollick took nearly four seconds off her top time in the 500m, running the event in 1:19.61, and was second in a heat of nine athletes. Junior Niki Pasquarella also posted a season best of 10:41.58 in the 3000m.

Junior Rusty Smith was third in his heat of eight athletes in the 55m hurdles, finishing ahead of runners from BYU, South Florida and Baylor with a time of 8.25 seconds.

Freshman Sam Janssen had his best time of the year, 2:35.81, in the 1000m. Junior Chris Reddick turned in a solid performance of 50.97 seconds in the men's 400m.

The Warriors will go back to the Armory next Friday for the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games as they continue to prepare for the 2009 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at ESU's Koehler Fieldhouse on February 28 and March 1.
