HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Mercyhurst defeated East Stroudsburg University, 7-2, in both the men's and women's matches in the Warriors' 2009 spring season opener at Hilton Head, S.C. on Sunday.

ESU received victories from both of its No. 1 doubles teams. Sophomores Katie D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno beat the Lakers top pairing 8-1, and sophomores Will Norris and Ryan Baxter earned an 8-6 win on the men's side.

Ferrigno and Baxter also posted singles wins for the Warriors. Ferrigno was a 9-7 winner over Jaclyn McLean at No. 3 in the women's match, while Baxter won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 for the ESU men.
