PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia University won four of the six singles matches on both the men's and women's sides to take a pair of tennis matches from East Stroudsburg University on Sunday afternoon.
The ESU men won two of the three doubles match-ups in a 5-4 loss. Sophomores Will Norris and Ryan Baxter won 8-2 at No. 1 and freshmen Mark Covert and Andrew Makos won 8-2 at No. 3. Covert and sophomore Zach Ontell posted singles wins for the Warriors, with Covert taking a three-set victory at No. 3 and Ontell winning in straight sets at the No. 5 spot.
Philadelphia U won the women's match 6-3 behind the play of Adriana and Daniela Rodriguez, who combined for three of the Rams' six points with wins at first doubles and first and second singles. ESU's victories came from senior Sarah Deisher and freshman Amanda Kaufman at second doubles, sophomore Jamie Ferrigno at third singles and junior Marissa Tanner at fifth singles.
ESU is in action on Saturday and Sunday next weekend, traveling to Georgian Court before hosting Adelphi on March 29 at Stroudsburg High School.
