BLOOMSBURG - Freshman Amanda Kaufman and sophomores Katie D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno won in the top three spots in the singles lineup and also posted victories in doubles to lead the East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team to a 7-2 win over Millersville in dual action on Tuesday at Bloomsburg.

In the men's match-up, five of the six singles matches went to three sets, but Millersville emerged with wins in four of those contests and won 6-3.

D'Ambrosia (No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0) and Ferrigno (No. 3, 6-1, 6-2) also teamed up for an 8-4 win at first doubles as ESU took all three of the doubles contests. Kaufman and Sarah Deisher won 8-3 at No. 2 and junior Marissa Tanner and freshman Angela Teri won 8-6 at the No. 3 slot.

Kaufman was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at first singles and Tanner also won 6-1, 6-3 at fifth singles for the Warriors. Deisher fell in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4.

On the men's side, the first five singles matches went to three sets, and ESU freshman Dalton Barton was pushed by Dusty Speicher in a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 in an incredibly even match-up between the two schools.

Of the five three-setters, only one match (Millersville's Andrew Sorgi over Rob Mikolon at No. 3) saw the winner of the first set come away with the victory. The Marauders also got victories from Drew Slocum at No. 1 (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) over sophomore Will Norris, Mark Treires at No. 4 (3-6, 7-5, 6-4) over sophomore Zach Ontell, and Henry Ben at No. 5 (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) over freshman Andrew Makos.

Freshman Mark Covert overcame a 7-4 loss in the first set tiebreaker for a 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 victory against Donald Swantko at second singles for the Warriors.

The three doubles matches were competitive as well, with Millersville winning 8-6 at No. 1 and 8-4 at No. 3. ESU's pairing of Mikolon and Ontell took an 8-2 win over Speicher and Treires at No. 2.

ESU travels to West Chester on Friday before hosting Kutztown on Saturday at Stroudsburg High School.
