HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and won at the first four singles spots for a 7-2 victory over York College as they wrapped up their spring break trip to Hilton Head on Thursday.
Methodist (N.C.) earned a 7-2 win over the Warriors' men's team. The ESU women finished the trip with a 3-2 record, while the men went 2-3.
In the women's match, freshman Amanda Kaufman (No. 1 singles), sophomores Katie D'Ambrosia (No. 2) and Jamie Ferrigno (No. 3) and senior Sarah Deisher (No. 4) each won their singles matches in straight sets. Kaufman and D'Ambrosia teamed up for an 8-0 victory at first doubles and Deisher and Ferrigno won 8-2 at the second slot.
Freshmen Mark Covert (No. 3) and Andrew Makos (No. 6) posted singles victories for the ESU men and lost a very competitive 9-7 decision at third doubles. Sophomore Ryan Baxter fell 2-6, 6-3 (10-8) at fourth singles.
The Warriors are off for their next two weeks and return to action at Philadelphia University on Sunday, March 22.
