SAN ANGELO, Texas - Junior Rusty Smith was 13th in the 110m hurdles in East Stroudsburg University's only action of the day at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Angelo State.

Smith ran a time of 14.47 seconds, the second-fastest of his career, but did not secure one of the eight spots in the final on Saturday. He qualified with a school-record time of 14.41 seconds in winning the PSAC championship two weeks ago and was seeded 10th entering the meet. Freshman Tyler Shaw of Northwest Missouri State was the class of the field in 14.03, while the eighth spot was 14.38.

Smith is a two-time All-American in the 60m hurdles indoors and was fifth in the nation in March. He is one of two hurdlers to earn All-America honors in school history, along with Jack Goldowski, who was inducted into the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame last fall.

The Warriors will have five athletes competing on Saturday, beginning with sophomore Bill Buis and junior Kenny Cardullo in the javelin at 11 a.m. CST. Junior Matt Gallup is in the pole vault at 5 p.m. and sophomore Lynn Mayer, a two-time All-American, and junior Janelle Smith compete in the high jump at 5:35 p.m.

The quintet will look to join junior Paul Wagner as All-Americans during the outdoor season. Wagner was sixth in the hammer throw with an ESU and PSAC record of 196-9 on Thursday afternoon.
