ESU Women's Volleyball Splits Two Matches on Friday Night

EAST STROUDSBURG – Junior outside hitter Emily Detter led East Stroudsburg University with eight kills in a 3-0 win over Caldwell in the first match, while Adelphi posted a 3-1 win against the Warriors in the second match of the night as ESU hosted five matches in its home tournament on Friday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors (5-4) defeated Caldwell 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 led by eight kills from Detter, five kills from freshman middle hitter Kaitlin Behrens and 17 assists from junior setter Diana Gibson. Junior libero Lindsey Lullo had 14 digs and freshman Katie O'Neill had 10.

ESU hit .260 as a team with just six attack errors in the match, and Gibson and O'Neill both had three service aces.

Against Adelphi, ESU took the first set 25-22 before the Panthers came back to win 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20 over the final three sets.

Junior outside hitter Alyson Stark had a season-high 17 kills and a .238 attack percentage, and junior middle hitter Brianne Bachman recorded 11 kills. Freshman setter Cassie Willman had 30 assists and a season-high 15 digs for her third double-double of the year.

Lullo had 30 digs, her fifth match with at least 20 digs this year, and is averaging 6.1 digs per game for the season.

The Warriors play twice on Saturday, facing Saint Rose at 11 a.m. and Holy Family at 3 p.m. Saint Rose went 2-0 on Friday while Holy Family was 0-2.
