Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior midfielder Kierstyn DeNardo sent the game into overtime with a goal as time expired in regulation and junior forward Caitlin Brownley scored two goals and had the game-winner 6:37 into overtime to lift No. 7 East Stroudsburg University past No. 5 Kutztown, 3-2, in PSAC East field hockey on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Brownley's goal on an assist from junior midfielder Kayla Cilenti with nine minutes left in the first half was the only scoring until Kutztown scored two goals late in the second half, first with 11:40 left and again with 4:10 remaining, to give the Golden Bears (5-1, 1-1) a 2-1 lead.

ESU (5-1, 3-0) won a penalty corner at the end of the half and DeNardo sent the ball past Kutztown goalkeeper Emily Falko, who had 15 saves, to put the game into overtime.

Brownley had the assist on DeNardo's goal off the corner and ended the game in the extra session on a pass from sophomore midfielder Amanda McGuire.

Saturday's game was the third straight 3-2 (OT) result in the series between the Warriors and Golden Bears, with each team winning on the other's field last season. Kutztown was coming off a 2-1 upset of defending national champion Bloomsburg.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maureen Ordnung made six saves in goal for ESU, which held slight advantages of 22-17 in shots and 10-8 in penalty corners.

Brownley has five goals and three game-winning goals this season and led ESU with eight goals and six assists last year.

ESU hits the road on Sunday with a trip to Anne Arundel, Md. to take on Limestone (N.C.) in a neutral site game at the Anne Arundel Parks and Recreation complex.
