Women's Volleyball Completes 3-1 Weekend with Saturday Sweep

EAST STROUDSBURG – Juniors Brianne Bachman and Alyson Stark and freshman Megan Plumb all posted solid hitting numbers as East Stroudsburg University earned a pair of four-set wins on Saturday to go 3-1 in its home tournament this weekend at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Stark had 13 kills, 15 digs and set a career-high with eight aces in ESU's win over Saint Rose (22-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-20), and Bachman had 17 kills on the day and a sizzling .433 hitting percentage. Plumb contributed eight kills and hit .438 vs. Saint Rose.

In the match with Holy Family, ESU took the first set 25-8 before falling 25-17 in the second. The Warriors outlasted Holy Family in the third and fourth, winning 31-29 and 29-27, to complete the 3-1 weekend.

Bachman led ESU with seven kills and Stark, Plumb and freshman Kaitlin Behrens had six kills each. Junior libero Lindsey Lullo had 23 digs and posted 79 digs in four matches for the weekend.

Freshman setter Cassie Willman had 34 assists and six digs vs. Saint Rose while senior Diana Gibson posted 25 assists in the win over Holy Family.

Stark had 39 kills over Friday and Saturday and surpassed the 600-kill plateau for her career after entering with 598. She also registered 34 digs, 11 aces and seven blocks. Bachman hit .314 with 29 kills and Willman (72 assists) and Gibson (42) combined to lead the attack.

ESU travels to western Pennsylvania for PSAC crossover action next weekend with matches at California on Friday and IUP on Saturday.
