SHIPPENSBURG – Sophomore midfielder
Devon Miniscalco scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season as East Stroudsburg University and Shippensburg played to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday afternoon.
Miniscalco scored in the 12th minute on an assist from freshman midfielder Crystal Zerbe, while Gayle Kuntzmann provided the game-tying goal for Shippensburg in the 53rd minute.
ESU (5-2-1, 2-1-1) held a 30-15 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in overtime, but Shippensburg (1-3-2, 1-1-2) goalkeeper Beth Long, a first team All-PSAC East selection last fall, made a career-high 17 saves.
ESU sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Myers had six saves, including a diving stop of a penalty kick by Kuntzmann in the 23rd minute that maintained the 1-0 lead. Freshman back Carly Collins also had a team save for ESU, clearing a ball off the line in the first half two minutes before Miniscalco put the Warriors in front.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday with a trip to PSAC East co-favorite West Chester for a 1 p.m. start.
