Amanda McGuire scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes left to give East Stroudsburg University a 2-1 victory at Slippery Rock in non-conference field hockey on Sunday.
Junior forward
Caitlin Brownley, the nation's leading scorer entering the week, scored her 14th goal of the season on a penalty stroke at the end of the first half to tie the game at 1-1. Katie Krouse gave Slippery Rock a 1-0 lead with 2:21 left until halftime.
McGuire's third goal of the year and second game-winning goal came with 4:34 remaining on an assist from junior forward
Jessica Frantz. The Warriors held advantages in both shots (18-4) and penalty corners (14-4) and had nine shots in each half.
Lisa Belcastro made eight saves for the Rock, while sophomore
Maureen Ordnung had two saves and has been in goal for all 12 games this season.
The Warriors, ranked No. 3 in this week's NFHCA coaches poll, are off until next Sunday when they host C.W. Post in a PSAC East contest at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
