EAST STROUDSBURG – Navy won seven of the 10 bouts to defeat East Stroudsburg University, 28-12, in wrestling dual action on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Midshipmen won four matches by decision, got a second-period pin from Dustin Haislip at 141, a 14-4 major decision from No. 9 Scott Steele at 285 and gained an injury default victory at 184 when Andrew Buck was unable continue following an illegal move.

ESU's three victories came from redshirt sophomore Andrew Arnold (133), redshirt sophomore Thad Frick (157) and junior Ed Ebewo (197).

Arnold pinned Navy's Pat McCaffrey with five seconds left in their match at 133. He took McCaffrey to the mat with the score tied at 4-4 with 15 seconds left and put him on his back to record his team-leading sixth pin of the season. Arnold evens his season record at 11-11, with nine bonus-point victories – six falls, two technical falls and one major decision.

The pin gave ESU a 6-3 lead through the first two bouts, but Navy went ahead to stay in the 141-pound match-up as Haislip pinned ESU redshirt sophomore Adam Hluschak with two seconds to go in the second period.

At 157, Frick went ahead in the first period and held off Bobby Barnhisel for a 6-4 decision. Frick is 10-1 in his last 11 matches, which includes his run through the consolation bracket at the Wilkes Open, and is 16-8 on the season.

Navy earned a pair of decisions at 165 and 174, and Buck led 5-3 in the first period against redshirt senior Shane Mallory at 184 when Mallory's slam was deemed an illegal move and resulted in a one-point penalty. Buck had already taken injury time during the period, and was judged unable to continue by the Navy athletic training staff.

Ebewo won for the seventh time in eight matches with a 3-2 decision over Charles Carafano at 197 and goes to 12-9 overall, 4-5 in duals.

Steele, one of the top 10 heavyweights in Division I, improved to 6-1 with his major decision in the final match of the night.

ESU returns to dual action next Friday at American International, and will compete at the Boston University Duals with North Dakota State on Saturday afternoon.
