BLOOMSBURG – Kayla Oxenrider scored 14 of her 17 points in the second half to help Bloomsburg pull away from a four-point halftime lead as the Huskies beat East Stroudsburg University, 64-49, in PSAC East women's basketball on Wednesday night.

Bloomsburg (11-4, 3-0) used a 13-2 run to break open an eight-point game over the final nine minutes to remain unbeaten in PSAC East play. Kelsey Gallagher and Dana Wieller both had 15 points and Alyssa Flanagan had eight points and eight steals, part of a 19-steal night for the Huskies.

Senior forward DeAnna Rayam led ESU (3-13, 1-2) with 13 points and eight boards and senior center Alexa Detzi had a season-high 12 points and seven rebounds. The Warriors held Bloomsburg to 33.9 percent from the field, but shot 33.3 percent themselves and couldn't overcome 29 turnovers.

Bloomsburg hit three of its seven three-pointers to build a 15-4 lead in the first seven minutes of the game before the Warriors put together a push to get within four at the eight-minute mark of the first half. Senior guard Mel Villano hit a three-pointer, freshman forward Mia Waring scored four points and sophomore guard Cyara Woodridge made a jumper to make the score 19-15.

Rayam scored 10 points in the first half – seven in the final six minutes – and made a layup on an assist from sophomore forward Becky Hayter with two seconds left to bring the Warriors within 30-26 at intermission.

Oxenrider scored seven points in the first three minutes of the second half but ESU stayed close as Detzi hit three layups to keep the Warriors within six. Bloomsburg went ahead by 10 (44-34) on a jumper by Alyssa Flanagan with just under 14 minutes left as neither team generated much offense in an eight-minute stretch midway through the half.

Wieller scored to start the Huskies' decisive run with 8:47 left and a three-pointer by Oxenrider, her third of the game, put Bloomsburg ahead 52-39 two minutes later. The lead reached 19 with four minutes to play to put the game out of reach.

ESU, which was coming off a 58-55 win over Shippensburg last Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse, travels to Cheyney for conference action on Saturday at 1 p.m.
