No. 6 Gannon Posts 85-52 Win over Warriors Women’s Basketball

EAST STROUDSBURG – No. 6-ranked Gannon improved to 14-0 on the 2009-10 season with an 85-52 win at East Stroudsburg University in PSAC women's basketball crossover action on Sunday afternoon.

Kristina Freeman led five players in double figures with 17 points for the Golden Knights, who opened the game with a 14-2 lead and held a 38-22 advantage at halftime. Tiffany Crocker scored 13 points, Shanna Thompson had 11 and Carrie Nolan and Kim Vargas had 10 each as Gannon shot 58.9 percent from the field. Crocker also added eight assists.

Sophomore guard Cyara Woodridge scored 12 points, two shy of her career-high, and senior forward DeAnna Rayam had 11 points for ESU (2-9). Rayam has been in double figures in every game this season and is averaging 15.1 points per game, including a 24-point effort to tie her career-high in a 66-64 win over Clarion on Saturday.

The Warriors forced Gannon into 24 turnovers and had 13 steals, led by four each by Rayam and junior forward Kristin D'Arienzo, but shot just 34.7 percent for the game after posting a season-best 43 percent mark in Saturday's victory.

The Warriors will be back on the floor next weekend with the second half of their PSAC crossover schedule, traveling to Lock Haven on Saturday and Edinboro on Sunday. Both games tip-off at 1 p.m.
