BLOOMSBURG – Senior Katie D'Ambrosia won two matches in the “A” singles bracket and partnered with senior Jamie Ferrigno for two wins in “A” doubles to lead East Stroudsburg University at the Bloomsburg Fall Classic, held Saturday and Sunday in central Pennsylvania.

D'Ambrosia had wins over Bloomsburg's Emily Palko (6-0, 6-3) in the first round and IUP's Emilia Osborne (0-6, 6-2, 10-8) in her consolation match after a loss to eventual champion Katie Eaton of IUP.

In doubles, D'Ambrosia and Ferrigno improved to 49-22 as a doubles team in their careers at ESU, notching victories over Allison Kritofco and Alexis Donner of Wilkes and Osborne and Alex Ballard of IUP.

The Warriors' other two doubles teams also had wins in the consolation rounds. Junior Amanda Kaufman and sophomore Rabecca Lausch were paired in the “A” bracket, while freshmen Melanie DeMarco and Annie Vega had a win in the “B” bracket.

Kaufman suffered three straight tough-luck losses in “A” singles. She split the first two sets in all three of her matches but dropped the 10-point tiebreaker, facing Osborne of IUP in the first round and Melanie Nolt and Victoria Byble, both of Wilkes, in her consolation matches.

The Warriors travel to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for dual action on Tuesday before heading to Shippensburg for the PSAC Individual Championships next weekend.
