EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior forward Jessica Frantz scored three goals to add to her total as the leading scorer in Division II and led an East Stroudsburg University attack that scored seven goals in a 30-minute span in an 8-2 win over Mercyhurst in non-conference field hockey on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

The Warriors, ranked No. 2 in the nation, extended their school record winning streak to 11-0 with their second-highest goal output of the season.

ESU didn't score until 23 minutes into the game when senior midfielder Brittany Kocis scored the first of her two goals, starting a deluge that ended with Frantz's third goal of the game that gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead with just under 20 minutes left in the second half.

Frantz has 23 goals through the first 11 games, notching her fourth hat trick and moving within six goals of the school record of 29 held by Ashley Kocis, who was the Division II Player of the Year in 2006.

Brittany Kocis, the reigning PSAC East Player of the Week, had a pair of goals to give her seven on the season and led the nation with 1.0 assists per game (nine assists in nine games) entering the week.

Senior forward Caitlin Brownley added a goal and an assist and senior back Kayla Cilenti scored her sixth goal of the year. Senior midfielder Joanna Reckley had two assists and sophomore forward Alyson Becker also notched an assist.

Sophomore forward Lauren Ventrella, the PSAC indoor track champion in the 60m hurdles last winter, closed the Warriors' scoring with her first career goal. Freshman forward Brielle Kessel assisted on Ventrella's goal for her first career point.

The Warriors played all three of their goalkeepers, with junior Maureen Ordnung making the start and playing the first 55 minutes. ESU held a 24-4 advantage in shots, and Ashley Wiskup had three saves for Mercyhurst (2-8).

Denise Groeber Ferretti '93, theWarriors' first female athlete to be named to All-America teams in two sports, was recognized prior to the game following her induction to the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame and served as an honorary coach. Groeber Ferretti played field hockey and lacrosse for current field hockey head coach Sandy Miller.

ESU is back in action next Saturday with a trip to Millersville to wrap up the first half of the PSAC East schedule.
