EAST STROUDSBURG – Three East Stroudsburg University athletes, senior Niki Pasquarella and freshmen Corinne Fitzgerald and Rose Mascoli, have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team for the 2009 women's cross country season.

Pasquarella (Pipersville/Palisades), a Health and Physical Education major, is a member of the All-Academic team for the third straight year, while Fitzgerald (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and Mascoli (Lebanon/Lebanon Catholic) were recognized in their first year of eligibility.

To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average and placed in the top 30 percent of their respective NCAA regional championships. The PSAC led the country with 43 student-athletes on this year's list.

Pasquarella, Fitzgerald and Mascoli were ESU's top three finishers at this year's NCAA Atlantic Regional at Mansfield, with Fitzgerald finishing 40th (23:09), Mascoli 42nd (23:14) and Pasquarella 43rd (23:15). Pasquarella's senior year featured a fifth-place finish at Mansfield and a seventh-place showing at the Don Cathcart Invitational. She was ESU's top finisher in all seven meets during her junior season.

Mascoli, an Exercise Science major, was one of 31 student-athletes with a 4.0 cumulative GPA on this year's list. She paced the Warriors in five of the six meets she ran in last fall, finishing second of 108 runners at the Don Cathcart Invitational and third in a field of 55 at the Mountaineer Invitational at Mansfield. She was also ESU's top finisher at the PSAC Championships, coming in 34th in 24:23.5.

Fitzgerald, a Psychology major, also had an outstanding freshman year, which included a third-place showing at ESU's Nevins Invitational and the Warriors' top time at the NCAA Regional. She was fifth at the Don Cathcart Invitational and also finished seventh at the Mountaineer Invitational as ESU won the team title.
