JOHNSTOWN – East Stroudsburg University redshirt sophomore
Adam Hluschak (141) and redshirt senior
Shane Mallory (184) earned trips to the NCAA Division II Championships on Saturday at the Super Regional 1 Tournament at Pitt-Johnstown.
Hluschak and Mallory will represent the Warriors as one of 16 wrestlers in their respective weight classes from across the country in two weeks at Nebraska-Omaha. ESU is competing at the Division II level for the first year in 2009-10 after reclassifying from Division I following last season.
Hluschak finished second at 141 pounds and reached the finals after entering the tournament as the fifth seed. He won an 11-10 decision over No. 8 Dallas Evans in the semifinals to earn his NCAA bid and a trip to the finals, where he fell by a 4-3 decision to No. 2 Jeremy Parker (Limestone). Hluschak will take a 20-14 record into the NCAA Championships after opening the regional with an 18-0 major decision in the first round and a 4-3 decision over No. 4 Andrew Milanak (Gannon) in the quarterfinals).
Mallory finished fourth, his seeding entering the weekend, in the 184 pound bracket. He won his consolation semifinal by a 3-1 decision over No. 6 Jonathan Hale (Shippensburg) after falling 5-4 to No. 1 Tim Darling (Kutztown) in the semifinals. No. 2 Bryant Blanton (Newberry) posted a 2-1 decision over Mallory in the second tiebreaker in the third/fourth place match. Mallory is 23-8 on the season and 77-46 in his career at ESU.
Redshirt sophomore
Thad Frick (165) wrestled three matches in the consolations on Saturday and finished sixth overall. He won a 13-6 decision over No. 8 Zachary Lundgren (Pitt-Johnstown) in the consolation quarterfinals, fell 5-4 to No. 6 Jonathan Jackson (Anderson) in the consolation semis and was pinned in 6:15 by No. 3 Zach McKendree (Gannon) in the fifth/sixth place match. Frick went 25-13 on the mat in his second year for the Warriors.

Andrew Arnold (133) and junior
Ed Ebewo (197) saw their seasons come to an end in the consolations on Saturday morning. Arnold lost a 22-8 major decision to No. 4 Nick Wykoff (West Liberty) and Ebewo fell 10-6 to Chris Nocchi (Mercyhurst).
ESU finished 10th of the 15 schools in the region in the team standings and is one of 10 schools that will take multiple wrestlers to Nebraska-Omaha on March 12-13.
