NEW YORK, N.Y. – Juniors Jasmine Johnson and Negus Graham set East Stroudsburg University's men's and women's indoor track and field records in the 400 meters at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday at the Armory in New York City.

Johnson won her heat and finished 14th overall in the women's 400 with a time of 57.35 seconds, which broke the five-year old mark of 57.54 that was held by Tawny Youtz. Johnson set ESU's outdoor record in the 400 (56.06) as a sophomore last spring.

Graham was second overall and second in his heat, running a time of 48.83 seconds that was bettered only by Daniel Nix of Oklahoma (48.54). Senior Chris Reddick, who set the previous record of 49.11 at last year's PSAC Championships at Koehler Fieldhouse, was second in his heat and 17th in the field of 75 athletes with a time of 49.45.

Senior Andrew McCloskey and junior Asher Ashfield also had record-tying performances in the 60m dash. Their time of 7.09 seconds has now been recorded five times in school history, including twice by both sprinters in the last two weeks. Ashfield ran 7.09 at Bucknell on January 23, and McCloskey equaled that time last Saturday at Delaware. Jeff McClenton set the original record in 2008.

Freshman Ian Melhorn had his first experience competing at the Armory for the Warriors, winning his heat in the 200m in 22.49 and running the 60m in 7.18 seconds. He placed 11th of 49 in the 200.

Senior Rusty Smith clocked a time of 8.28 seconds in the 60m hurdles, three-hundredths of a second off his season best.

In the men's distance medley relay, ESU's quartet of Mike Saparito, Mahmoud Aldeen, Sam Janssen and Frank Fezza finished ninth in 10:12.45.

ESU will host the 11th Annual DeSchriver Invitational on Sunday at Koehler Fieldhouse beginning at 10 a.m.
