HICKORY, N.C. – No. 22-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 21-2 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of visiting East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears ran their winning streak to 11 games, posting 10 hits in a 10-1 victory in the first game, and 11 hits in an 8-0 win in the second game that was highlighted by a one-hitter by Alex Smith.
Junior
Brittany Racek stayed hot at the plate for the Warriors, going 3-for-5 in the doubleheader and picking up the only hit in the second game with a triple to lead off the fourth inning. Racek is hitting .429 (18-for-42) through the first 14 games this season.
Ashley Duckworth homered twice in the second game for Lenoir-Rhyne and was 3-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBI.
The Warriors (4-10), who posted a pair of wins at Mars Hill (11-3) on Tuesday, will travel to Glenville, W.V. for four games in a tournament at Glenville State this weekend.
