SALEM, Va. – Chelsea Simon's three-run home run in the second inning put Fairmont State ahead and Chelsea Cobb threw a complete game three-hitter as the Falcons posted a 6-1 win over East Stroudsburg University in the first of five games for the Warriors this weekend in Salem, Virginia.

Senior Jackie Battaglino threw her fourth straight complete game and seventh of the season for ESU, which takes on WVIAC schools Charleston and Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday and Davis & Elkins and Seton Hill on Sunday.

Battaglino allowed her first earned runs in 23 innings on Simon's two-out homer in the second. She threw a pair of complete games and didn't yield an earned run in 14 innings in a doubleheader sweep of Holy Family, 4-3 and 4-1, on Wednesday.

Fairmont State also had a 5-1 win over ESU earlier this season in Catawba, N.C., with Cobb throwing a four-hitter with five strikeouts. She struck out eight on Friday to help the Falcons even their season record at 8-8.

ESU used a two-out single by senior Kara Darcey that scored junior Alicea Ashe to pull within 3-1 in the sixth inning, but Fairmont State hit two more home runs in the seventh, a two-run shot by Brittany Tallhammer and a solo homer by Elizabeth Derrick, to stay in front.
